State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is interested to get gas supply from the Jangkrik field within the Muara Bakau Block, in East Kalimantan, operated by ENI SPA.

PLN Head of Fuel and Gas Division, Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com Tuesday that the gas supply would help avoid a projected gas shortage in 2017.

?There is possibility to get gas from the Jangkrik field. Based on our calculation, by 2017 PLN could suffer a gas shortage,? Suryadi said.

He said that the gas could be supplied to PLN power plants via the Jakarta Bay Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). He added, however, that PLN has yet to talk with ENI SPA over the possibility of the gas supply from the Jangkrik field.
