State-owned electricity PT. PLN cut down the electricity tariffs of its various customer categories for the month of September following lower oil price and inflation rate in July.

The company said in a statement Monday that the tariff of low voltage group comprising of household and business customers with installed power capacity of between 3,500 VA and 200 kVA has been adjusted down to Rp 1,523.43 per kWh from Rp 1,546.60.

The tariff of customers in the medium voltage group with capacity of more than 200 kVA has been lowered to Rp 1,200.01 per kWh from Rp 1,218.26, while the tariff of customers in the high voltage category with capacity of more than 30,000 kVA has been reduced to Rp 1,069.85 per kWh from Rp 1,086.12.

PLN said that the drop in the value of the rupiah against the US dollar also affected the tariff adjustment.
