PLN, major coal suppliers to start 2012 coal price negotiation

State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is expecting to start the negotiation of coal price for 2012 period with majors Indonesian?s coal suppliers next month, the company? official told Petromindo.Com.

Senior manager for primary energy planning and evaluation, Chairani Rachmatullah said that basically the total volume of coal supply has been agreed between PLN and Indonesia?s major coal suppliers which include PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), PT Arutmin Indonesia, PT Adaro Indonesia, PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk, PT Kideco Jaya Agung, PT Berau Coal, PT Lanna Harita and PT Indominco Mandiri.

Total volume of coal supply to PLN next year and 2013, is around 49 million tonnes and 53.2 million tonnes, respectively, which would come from 9 coal contract of work (CCoW) holders and 2 IUP holders and from PT PLN Batubara, a coal trading unit of PLN.

This year, PLN is targeting to consume around 36.6 million tonnes.

The amount figures are strictly for PLN consumption, not inclusive of IPP requirement, she said.

?We are still waiting for the announcement of coal price reference (HBA) for December 2011 period from government to decide on the 2012 price,? Chairani said. The price for 2012 will be based on the average of HBA in the fourth quarter 2011. (denny)
