PLN, Marubeni to sign LoI for Cirebon power plant

State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said it will sign a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Japanese firm Marubeni lead consortium for the construction of the 600-megawatt Cirebon coal-fired power plant tender on Wednesday (today).
South Korea's companies Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd and Sam Tan Co. Ltd and Indonesian engineering firm PT Tripatra are members of the consortium.
PLN spokesman Muljo Adji AG said the other loser Essar from India didn?t utilize the five-day period to raise any objections on the selection of tender winner.
Marubeni offered a a price of $0.4363 per KwH, much lower than the Essar? s bid price of $0.4402 per KwH.
Muljo said the power plant is expected to commence operation on a commercial basis in 2009. (Godang)
