State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to appoint its subsidiary PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB) to resume construction of stunted 2x15 MW PLTU Waai coal-fired power plant project in Toleho Village, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province.
PLN Business Director for Maluku and Papua Region, Ahmad Rofiq told Petromindo.com that PJB has an EPC subsidiary called PT Rekadaya Elektrika.
He, however, said that PLN is also considering to hold tender to select the EPC contractor for the project. He said that a decision is expected to be made before the end of this year.
?The first alternative is to appoint PJB to resume the construction work. PJB has a subsidiary PT Rekadaya Elektrika. Or, we could also hold tender,? he said, adding that construction progress of the power plant project when it was suspended in 2014 had reached around 60 percent.
Ahmad said that PLN has set a target for the power plant to be completed in 2019.
