PT PLN Batam, a unit of state electricity firm PLN that runs Batam island electricity operations said it might hold re-tender for the development of a combined cycle power plant after previous tenders failed to attract enough bidders.
Planning Director IB Mardawa said during the previous two PQ tender only one company called PT Universal Batam Energy qualified for the tender.
He did not say when the re-tender will be held.
PLN late last year called bids to build a 120-MW combined cycle power plant (PLTGU) in Tanjung Uncang, Batam and operate it over a period of 15 years.
PLN required bidders to have secured gas supplies of at least 20 Bbtud for the power plant, which must be proved with a gas sales agreement (GSA) with proven gas supplier for a minimum period of 15 years from the commercial operation date. The gas-in is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2011. (bernard)
