State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is considering to seek for government guarantee for the planned 2x400 MW mine-mouth power plant in Jambi province, according to company President Director Nur Pamudji.

He said Wednesday that the company was actually also interested in seeking for similar guarantee for the planned 450 MW hydro power plant in West Sulawesi, but the problem is that the local provincial administration has had encountered ?social problems? in pushing for the project to move forward.

PLN earlier has submitted a proposal to the state-owned PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII), an infrastructure guarantee agency, to obtain guarantee for two coal-fired mega power projects in South Sumatra, namely PLTU Mine-mouth Sumsel 9 and PLTU Mine-mouth Sumsel 10, which are estimated to require huge investment of around US$3.5 billion.
