PLN, Morowali regency sign MoU on biomass power plant

PT PLN Enjiniring, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity company PT. PLN, signed an MoU with the Morowali Regency administration in Central Sulawesi, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for the development of a 10 MW biomass power plant using Callianddra calothirsus trees as feedstock.
PLN Enjiniring President Director Zainal Abidin Sihite was quoted on Monday as saying that the Morowali government would provide land for the planting of the Calliandra calothirsus trees, believe to have high calorific value like coal.
He said that the project, part of the overall development new and renewable energy sources in the eastern part of Indonesia, was projected to be completed in 2016, which is expected to help increase power supply in Central Sulawesi. (*)
