PLN mulls developing LNG terminals

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is seriously considering to develop seven LNG terminals in several parts of the country and a gas pipeline as part of strategy to help obtain lower gas price for its power plants, Kontan reported on Wednesday.
The paper quoted PLN Head of Corporate Communications, I Made Suprateka as saying that of the seven planned projects, three will be in the form of floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to be located in northern part of Sumatra, Muara Tawar in Jakarta, and Gorontalo. ?For the FSRU, the feasibility study has been completed,? he said.
Suprateka said that the utility firm is also considering four floating storage units, possible to be located in Bangka Belitung, Nias, Pontianak, Maluku, or Gresik.
The gas pipeline project is planned to be develop in Tanjung Batu, Riau Province, he added, but did not provide further details. (*)
