PLN names consortium C. Java power plant developer

State electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) announced on Thursday that a consortium which consists of Japanese firm Itochu Corp, J-Power and IDX-listed firm PT Adaro Energy, has been formally declared as winner to develop a 2x1000 MW coal-fired power plant in Central Java.
The consortium was declared winner after beating three other bidders.
The consortium offered electricity price of 5.79 US cents per kwh. The project US$3.2 billion project is expected to start commercial operations in 2017.
The project will be guaranteed by the government under the involvement of its guarantee company PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII). (godang)
