PLN names low CV coal suppliers for crash program power plants

Fuel Procurement Director Nur Pamudji said PLN has picked 5 suppliers to supply 2.7 million tonnes of coal per annum for 20 years and PLN would pay Rp.1.1 trillion (US$120 million) annually for the coal
The winners are: 1. PT Bina Insan Sukses Mandiri and PT Tiramana consortium, 2. PT Energi Batubara Lestari and PT Batara Batari Sinergy Nusantara consortium, 3. PT Anzawara Satria, 4. PT Selatan Selabara and PT Fajar Visikalam consortium and 5.CV. Karya Utama Banua dan PT Daya Bambu Sejahtera consortium.
The winners will supply coal to PLN?s power plants in Nagan (Aceh), Pangkalan Susu (North Sumatra), Teluk Sirih (West Sumatra), Bangka Baru (Bangka and Belitung), Bengkalis (Riau), Selat Panjang (Riau), Tanjung balai Karimun (Riau), Trahan Baru (Lampung) and Asam Asam (South Kalimantan).
PLN estimated that it would need 31 MTPA of coal when all its power plants under the 10,000-MW crash program become onstream in 2010-11. The company has secured 28.5 MTPA of coal in the first and second phase tenders. (bernard)
