PLN offers new power plant project to US investors

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has offered American investors to build a hydropower plant in Urumuka, about 120 kilometers from Timika in Papua.
PLN's president director Dahlan Iskan said in Jakarta on Tuesday the construction of the hydropower plant which would have a capacity of 350 megawatt, and could cost about Rp 5 trillion (1US$ = Rp 9,280) to build, was offered during a meeting between Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa and the visiting US trade delegation led by Commerce Secretary Garry Locke.
Following the meeting Hatta said that the American companies were exploring opportunities to invest in Indonesia?s clean energy development during the two day visit on Tuesday and Wednesday. (godang)
