PLN opens tender for Tanjung Jati B operating coal

State electricity firm PLN is opening tender to supply operating coal to its 2x660 MW Tanjung Jati B steam power plant in Central Java, according to company announcement released Wednesday.
PLN said it was seeking 1-2 MTPA of coal for approximately 15 years, commencing tentatively June 2006 from Indonesian coal miners with existing and future coal operations.
PLN is seeking for coal with minimum calorific value of 5,600 kcal/kg on gross as received. Tender document can be obtain at PLN from March 14 to 18.
Tanjung Jati B plant is owned by PT. Central Java Power (CJP), in which Japan trading house Sumitomo is controlling shareholder. CJP entered into a 20-year long-term lease with PLN, under which PLN will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power plant during the lease period.
The plant will commence operations in 2006.(alex)
