PLN said in a statement that the new substation, with capacity of 30 MVA, will strengthen the electricity system particularly in three districts of Bangka Barat including Kelapa, Jebus and Muntok.
The operation of the new substation, which is hooked to the Pangkalpinang system via a 150 kV high voltage elevated transmission line, has increased installed power capacity in Bangka Barat to 20 MW from 10 MW previously. Bangka Barat currently has electrification ratio of 91.1 percent.
Elsewhere, PLN said that it is currently developing a transmission line linking Pangkalpinan and Koba, which is expected to be completed in December of this year.
It will be followed with the construction of 150 kV high voltage elevated transmission lines linking Kelapa and Muntuk, Bangka Barat and Koba, and Bangka Tengah and Bangka Selatan, which are expected to be completed in one and-a-half-year.
