The facility will be employed to ensure gas supply during peak period to power plant operated by PLN. Currently peak-load period in Jambi stands at 286 MW, PLN said.
PLN will use technology that will compress gas during off-peak-load period and store the gas in a cylinder tank container, to be used during peak-load period.
The CNG plant and peaking power plant will be built close to Sei Gelam 1 gas field , which has production capacity of 2.5 MMCFD and will be connected through a 10.5 km pipeline to Sei Gelam 2, which has production capacity of 2 MMCFD. Gas supply from both fields will be able to fuel peaking power plant with capacity of 80 MW, the company said. (giok/godang)
