PLN, Pertamina to build 9 mini LNG terminals

Two state owned companies, PT PLN and PT Pertamina, will jointly develop 9 small scale LNG receiving terminals in eastern Indonesia until 2015 with a total capacity of 1 million ton a year.

A joint venture has been set up to handle these projects, which would require total investment of US$240 million, with a shareholder composition of 35 percent for PLN, through subsidiary PT Indonesia Power, and 65 percent for Pertamina, through PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), said PLN Head of Oil and Gas Fuel Division Suryadi Mardjoeki as reported by Investor Daily.

The terminals will be built in Pesanggaran in Bali, Maros in South Sulawesi, three units in South Kalimantan (Bontang, Semberah and Tanjung Batu), Batakan in South Kalimantan, Likupang in North Sulawesi, Halmahera in North Maluku and Pomalaa in Southeast Sulawesi.

?We expect three units to already be in operation by 2013 and early 2014; the one in Pesanggaran, Semberah and Maros. The gas supply ready to be converted into LNG in those facilities is 20 mmscfd, 20 mmscfd and 10-15 mmscfd, respectively,? said Suryadi.(*)
