PLN picks Geo Dipa to develop N. Sumatra geothermal project

State electricity firm PT. PLN said on Wednesday that it had picked PT.Geo Dipa Energi, a joint venture company of PLN and state oil and gas company PT. Pertamina as winner to develop Sarulla Geothermal power plant project in North Sumatra, outbidding closest rival Medco Energi.

PLN?s director Ali Herman Ibrahim told Petromindo.Com that both Geo Dipa and Medco had been notified about the result.

PLN earlier shorlisted both companies as the project?s final bidders.

The Sarulla geothermal power plant is planned to yield up to 300-MW of electricity. The project will be developed under the ?operation right? scheme, meaning PLN will hold title to the power plant, while the developer of the project will holds the so-called ?operation right? (godang)
