PLN plans 400 MW gas engine power plant in Sumenep

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to develop a 400 MW gas engine power plant (PLTMG) in Sumenep Regency, Madura Island, East Java Province, which is targeted to start operation in 2019, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Dwi Kusnanto, a General Manager at the PLN East Java Distribution Office, as saying that tender process to select the EPC contractor is currently underway.

The electricity output will be supplied to the Madura System and the Java-Bali system.

Elsewhere, Dwi said that PLN also plans to develop two PLTMGs in nearby Bawean Island, Gresik Regency, each with capacity of 1 MW, to replace existing diesel-fired power plants. (*)
