PLN plans gas engine power plant in Aceh

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to build a 4 MW gas engine power plant in Gampong Jaboi, Sabang City, Aceh Province, next year to help meet growing power demand, kontan.co.id reported on Tuesday.
The news portal quoted Mizwar, a manager at PLN Sabang regional office, as saying that the project forms part of the government?s 35,000 MW power plants development program.
He said that while Sabang currently has installed capacity of 7.8 MW against demand of 5.5 MW, thus creating a surplus of 2.3 MW, future demand from industries such as hotel will increase.
He said that the gas engine power plant development will avoid future power crisis in Sabang. (*)
