State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to develop a 150 kV medium-voltage 4.5-circuit km transmission line in Palu, Central Sulawesi Province, to supply the first 10 MW power for the Palu Special Economic Zone.

This was said by PLN Director of Business for Sulawesi Region, Syamsul Huda on Friday. He added that to facilitate the electricity supply to the industrial zone, PLN will also develop a 150 kV substation at the industrial zone.

Meanwhile, Agus Lambarte of PT Bangun Palu Sulteng, which operates the 1,500-ha Palu Special Economic Zone, said that the company would provide the land requirement for the planned substation.

He added that going forward, the industrial zone will require up to 250 MW of power supply as the number of tenants increases.

To help increase power supply in the region, Syamsul said that PLN is preparing to develop a 100 MW PLTU 3 coal-fired power plant in Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, and a 60 MW mobile power plant. He did not provide further details. (*)
