PLN Batam, a subsidiary of state owned electricity company PLN, will carry out a partial blackout in the industrial town of Batam beginning June 13 until June 20 due to the interruption in the gas supply.
Kompas daily reported on Saturday that PT Conoco Philips would cut off the gas supply next week to allow the company to carry out maintenance work on its gas receiving facility.
The cut in the supply would force PLN Batam to halt the operation of the company's Panaran power plant which has two power generating units. This will reduce the power supply to the industrial town by at least 35 Megawatt.
In normal condition, PLN Batam is capable of providing power supply of about 162 Megawatt. (*)
