PLN plans tender for 10 gas engine power plants

State-owned electricity company PT PLN plans to hold tender this year for the construction of 10 gas engine power plants with combined capacity of 200 MW in Maluku and Papua, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted PLN Business Director for Maluku and Papua regions, Haryanto as saying that the tender is expected to be implemented in the first quarter or second quarter of this year.

The proposed mobile gas engine power plants are part of the government?s target of 35,000 MW power plant projects to be developed in five years until 2019.

He said that the 10 gas engine power plants will increase power supply in the regions, which currently have installed capacity of 450 MW, with peak load of 380 MW.(*)
