PLN plans to develop underwater transmission system in NTB

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to develop a submarine power cable linking the Lombok power system and the Gili Gede Island in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), in a bid to supply electricity to the island.
General Manager of PLN?s NTB regional office, Karyawan Aji was quoted as saying by Kontan.co.id that the company was planning to develop a 20 kV, 2.4 kms underwater power cable.
He was speaking following a meeting with the NTB Investment Coordinating Board and other local administration officials. ?Gili Gede is a potential tourism are, so PLN must prepare power network to the location,? he said, without providing further details about the planned project. (*)
