PLN plans to invest up to Rp 80t this year

State-owned electricity company PT PLN plans to invest around Rp 70 trillion-Rp 80 trillion this year particularly for the development of transmission lines.

PLN President Director Sofyan Basir said on Wednesday that the investment budget would also be allocated for the development of new power plants and to finance the company?s Village Electricity Program.

He said that about Rp 30 trillion of the required funds will come from company equty, while the remainder from bank loans.

Sofyan said that the company plans to develop a total of 9,000 kms of transmission lines this year, much higher compared to about 900 kms built in 2014, to support the government?s program to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plants through 2019.

Meanwhile, PLN Corporate Planning Director Nicke Widyawati said that PLN plans to develop a total of 2,400 MW power plant projects this year, which is part of the 35,000 MW target.(*)
