PLN plans to purchase two power generators from China

The state-owned electricity company PLN is planning to buy two power generating units each with a capacity of 2x50 MW to help overcome future power shortage problem in North Sumatra and East Kalimantan, according to company president Eddie Widiono.
Eddie was quoted by the Suara Karya daily as saying Wednesday that the project cost for each of the geothermal power generating unit would amount to US$800 million.
The paper said that the plan to purchase the power generating units from China was part of the government efforts to help the state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina to win contract to supply LNG to China?s Guangdong province.(*)
