State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has postponed the bid submission schedule for the 1,600 MW Jawa-1 combined-cycle power plant project from the initial plan of July 25 to August 25 following request from tender participants.

?Most of the tender participants have requested for the delay. But we can only extended (the bid submission schedule) for a month. We can?t wait much long because we must push (the project) to start quickly as it must be completed in 2019,? said Nicke Widyawati, Director for Strategic Planning at PLN on Friday.

Nicke said that as for the location of the project, it would be fully decided by the winning bidder.

This portal previously reported that Jawa-1 power plant project will be located in Muara Tawar, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk, which teams up with Singapore?s Sembawang Corp Pty Ltd, said last week that while it was ready to submit the bid by July 25, the company said it would be able to make a better bid if it be given additional time of one or two weeks.

PLN announced tender for the Jawa-1 project in the middle of last year. However, the state utility has several times changed the request for proposal and bid submission schedules.

Other bidders for the Jawa-1 project are IDX-listed Rukun Raharja Tbk is, which is teaming up with Japan?s Mitsubishi Corporation and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN. State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) also plans to bid for the project in partnership with Japan?s Marubeni Corp and French firm Total & Gas Power. PT Medco Power Generation Indonesia (MPGI), a subsidiary of IDX-listed Medco Energi Internasional, also plans to participate in the tender. The firm initially planned to team up with Japan?s Mitsui Co. Last month, however, MPGI announced that Mitsui has backed down and the firm selected Korea Power Company (Kepco) of South Korea and Nebras Energy of Qatar as its new partners.
