PLN pushes to raise electricity ratio in Maluku

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is stepping up its efforts to increase the electricity ratio in Maluku and North Maluku provinces by expanding its customer base in the region.
General Manager of PLN for Maluku and North Maluku, Romantika Dwi Juni Putra, targets to expand the number of villages covered by electricity to 1,174 villages out of 1,241 total villages in Maluku province, with villages electricity ratio of 94.6 percent.
As for North Maluku, PLN aims to expand the number of villages covered by electricity to 1,181 villages out of total 1,200 villages with village electricity ratio of 98.4 percent.
Until end June 2019, the total customers of PLN in Maluku and North Maluku reached 601,768 people, increased 2.51 percent from January at 586,768 customers. As many as 29,053 of them are corporate customers.
As of end June 2019, the electricity ratio in Maluku Province stood at 87.07 percent and North Maluku Province at 89.33 percent, which is still lower than the national electricity ratio of 98.3 percent as of March this year.
Dwi Juni Putra said PLN is stepping up efforts to increase electricity ratio in the province through village electricity program (LISSA).
