Acting Governor of Riau Islands Province Agung Mulyana said that state-owned electricity firm PT PLN has promised the administration to provide additional power supply of up to 42 MW starting November to help resolve the current power crisis in several areas particularly Tanjung Pinang and Bintan.
Kompas quoted Agung as saying Wednesday that the extra power supply will come from the completion of the capacity expansion of the PLTMG Tokojo gas engine power plant (12 MW), and the new 9 MW PLTMG Dompak gas engine power plant.
The PLTMG Dompak power plant in Batam was supposed to start operation in October, but was delayed due to various problems. ?We?re optimistic end of this month can start operation,? said Senior Manager of PLN Riau and Riau Islands regional office, Febi Joko Priharto.
The extra power supply from Batam will be distributed via the Batam-Bintan interconnection network, which will be completed this month. ?I will inaugurate it on November 10, 2015,? Agung said.(*)
