PLN ready to supply power for smelting plants in South Sulawesi

State owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Titan Utama, PT Cinta Jaya and PT Cheng Feng Mining to supply power for the three nickel mining companies? smelting plants in Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi.

The MoU agreement was signed on Saturday by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji, Bantaeng Regent HM Nurdin Abdullah and president directors of the three nickel mining companies. Under the agreement, Titan will receive 60 megawatt of power supply from PLN, Cinta Jata to receive 35 MW and Cheng Feng to get 39 MW

PLN agreed to provide a special service for the three smelting plants to ensure uninterrupted power supply with special tariff.

PLN has earlier signed a similar agreement with three other nickel mining companies in Bantaeng Regency. Under the MoU agreement, PT Bhakti Bumi Sulawesi will receive power supply of 120 MW, PT Eastone Mining and Mineral Mining to get 70 MW and PT Macro Link Internasional Mining to receive 300 MW.

As of May 2013, PLN has the capacity to provide power supply of 1,108 MW in South Sulawesi. As the power load only reaches about 833 MW, PLN still has reserve power supply of 175 MW.
