?We have decided that boilers for six IPPs to come from domestic production. We now that many components can now be produced at home,? said Director of Procurement at PLN, Supangkat Iwan Santoso, said in a statement on Thursday.
The six IPP projects included PLTU Bangka coal-fired power plant (2x100 MW), PLTU Kalselteng 3 (2x100 MW), PLTU Kaltim 3 (1x200 MW), PLTU Kaltim 6 (1x200 MW), PLTU Kalbar 2 (1x200 MW), and gas-fired PLTG/MG Peaker Jawa Bali 4.
He said that other power plant projects will follow suit.
Supangkat said that PLN is determined to increase local content in the country?s power plant projects, but also realizes that for large projects such as super-ultra critical coal-fired power plant project, the local content requirement could only reach 15 percent considering limited capacity of the country in producing components for the high-tech plant.
He also reiterated that despite the increased use in local contents, power plant projects must not be delayed from completion target, and the quality must also be of top priority.
