State electricity firm PLN has succeeded to resolve power supply crisis in Aceh, West Kalimantan and several provinces in eastern Indonesia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Thursday.

PLN moved a floating generator from Pontianak to Aceh in order to reduce power supply deficit in Banda Aceh, which had amounted to 10 megawatts (MW), Purnomo said in a press statement.

The minister said that PLN was making technical preparations to transmit electricity to Banda Aceh from North Sumatra. The company was also readying Arun gas power plant in Aceh to supply electricity to Langsa and other regencies in eastern Aceh, Purnomo said.

Purnomo said further that PLN had used diesel generators from other parties to supply enough electricity to Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi. The city had experienced power shortage of 5 MW.

PLN had also resolved power deficits in East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara, and in Ambon and Timika, Papua.

PLN was repairing a power generator in Singkawang (West Kalimantan province), the minister added. (godang)
