State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is rushing to repair power facilities damaged by Wednesday?s major flood in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara Province, saying that it has been able to resume power supply in most parts of the city.

PLN said in a statement Friday that about 37.6 MW power supply has been resumed, compared to supply in normal condition of about 42 MW. ?The recovery has reached about 89 percent. There are still about 5 MW which has yet to be recovered,? said Head of Corporate Communications at PLN, I Made Suprateka in the statement.

As has been previously reported, the flood disaster has caused damage to the 4.5 MW Bima diesel-fired power plant, local substation and knocked off four medium-voltage power grids.

Suprateka said that the company has sent 50 personnel to Bima to recover damaged power facilities, and will deploy more personnel to help speed up the recovery.
