State-owned electricity company PT PLN has signed a MoU with PT Rencana Mulia Baratama (RMB) for the utilization of excess power from a planned 30 MW coal-fired power plant in Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan.

RMB Operational Director Lasmi Ningsih said Tuesday that the company plans to develop the power plant in Mura Kaman District, which is projected to be completed in 2017.

She said that part of the electricity output will be used by the company, while the excess will be sold to PLN for distribution to consumers in the region. ?That?s why we need the support of PLN from the planning stage to construction stage so that everything can be in accordance with standard and existing regulations,? Lasmi said as reported by Antara.

General Manager for PLN?s East and North Kalimantan Regional Office, Tohari Hadiat welcome the agreement with RMB as the state utility requires additional power output to meet growing demand in the region. (*)
