PLN rules out power interruption during fasting month

State owned electricity company PLN is optimistic that there will be no problem with the electricity supply during the ongoing fasting month and during Idul Fitri holidays early in November, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

?Power plants in Java and Bali are all in good condition. At present we have power reserves of about 600 MW which is quite high,? said Muljo Adji, the general manager for the power traffic control of the Java and Bali power grid.

He said that all the 200 power plants in Java and Bali which have total installed capacity of about 19,615 megawatt were able to produce up to 18,420 megawatt of power supply at present.

According to him, the seven power units at the coal-fired Suralaya power plant are in good condition and able to produce up to 3,400 megawatt. The other major plants such as those in the Paiton power plant complex is also in good condition and is able to produce up to 3,250 megawatt. (*)
