PLN?s coal and gas needs to rise next year

State electricity company PT PLN said on Monday that its coal needs would increase by 16,579,922 tons this year and 21,115,938 tons next year.
?PLN set the price of coal at Rp 332 per kilogram for this year and Rp 381 per kilogram for next year,? PLN acting president director Djuanda Nugraha Ibrahim said in a statement presented during a meeting with House of Representatives.
Aside from coal, PLN also needs high speed diesel (HSD), industrial diesel oil (IDO), marine fuel oil (MFO) and gas for its power plants.
HSD needs are estimated at 6,944,231 kiloliters this year and 4,234,873 kiloliters next year, while IDO needs at 1,038 kiloliters this and next year. Meanwhile, MFO needs are estimated at 2,258,039 kiloliters this year and 3,258,039 kiloliters next year.
The company needs 199,796 MMBTU of gas this year and the gas needs are expected to increase to 221,645 MMBTU next year.
?Gas price is at Rp 29,693 per MMBTU this year and Rp 34,147 per MMBTU in 2007,? he said.
Fuel consumption to generate power is between 0.275 and 0.3 liters per kilowatt hour (kWh) for diesel power plant, 0.45 liter per kWh for gas-fired plants using HSD, and 0.011 MMBTU per kWh for gas fired power plants using gas, 0.4 liter per kWh for gas fired power plants using HSD, and 0.5 kilogram per kWh for coal power plants.
