PLN?s coal consumption up by 5m tons

State-owned electricity company PT PLN stated that its coal consumption in 2015 increased by as much as 5 million tons to 66.9 millions tons compared to the previous year.
The higher coal consumption has allowed the company to reduce petroleum fuel consumption by as much as 2 million kiloliters to 5.4 million kiloliters.
Sarwono Sudarto, PLN's Finance Director said that the lower petroleum fuel consumption has allowed the company to reduce fuel spending by Rp 16 trillion last year.
He said that the company will further increase coal consumption this year, but stopped short of disclosing the volume target.
Based on PLN's 2015-2024 business plan, the coal consumption in 2016 is projected to reach up to 86 million tons.
