State owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has fired Director of Generation and Primary Energy Ali Herman Ibrahim, following coal supply problems to Tanjung Jati B coal-fired power plant in Central Java.

?The board of commissioners of PLN has fired Ali Herman Ibrahim? due to mismanagement of coal stock at Tanjung Jati B,? PLN?s President Commissioner Al Hilal Hamdi said on Saturday as quoted by Detik.com.

Tanjung Jati B, a major coal-fired power plant owned by PLN, has suspended one of its power generation unit due to the lack of coal supplies, while the other unit is still unable to operate at full capacity. The power plant has two power generation units each with the capacity of 660 Megawatt.

Bad weather has hampered transportation of coal Tanjung Jati B which needs 11,000 tons of coal per day. The power plant now has a coal stock enough for only 4.5 days. (*)
