The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors sought a seven-year jail term for former president director of state electricity company PLN Eddie Widiono for his involvement in the mark-up of outsourcing customers information system (CIS-RISI) projects for the company?s distribution networks in Jakarta and Tangerang.

In addition, the prosecutors also demanded the former PLN president director to pay a fine of Rp 500 million or face an additional six months in prison. Eddie was also demanded to return kickbacks worth Rp 2 billion to the state.

The KPK charged Eddie Widiono with violating Article 2 of the 2001 Law on Corruption, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Eddie is on trial for his role in alleged price fixing and corruption in the Rp 800 billion CIS-RISI project during a period between 2004 and 2006. A similar case was found at PLN?s East Java office.

According to the prosecutors at the KPK court, Eddie had directly appointed PT Netway Utama without a tender as the contractor of the project. (*)
