The 2x6-megawatt Payo Selincah diesel power plant in Jambi province is scheduled to start using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by end of September, an official at state-owned electricity firm PT PLN said Wednesday.
?The Payo Selincah is PLN?s pilot project for the use of LPG to replace the oil fuel. Total cost for modification of this power plant is estimated to reach around Rp 33 billion,? PLN director Ali Herman Ibrahim said.
Ali also said the power plant would need around 30 tons of LPG per day, which would be supplied from PT Medco E&P?s Kaji field in South Sumatra.
PLN has planned to use LPG instead of diesel oil at about 12 of its power plants in a bid to reduce the use of pricey diesel oil. (dino)
