PLN?s power unit pays higher coal price to PTBA

The 2x65 MW Bukit Asam power plant in South Sumatra, a power unit of state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has agreed to pay higher price for its 2012 coal purchases from state-owned coal miner PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA)
As was agreed in April this year, the power plant was to pay Rp592,348 per ton (FOB) to PTBA until the end of this year, higher compared to last year?s price at 575,000 per ton.
According to the official, for next year price is still being negotiated but volume will be supplied at around 1.1 million tons. Between the parties there is still a long-term coal supply contract which started in January 2004 and will expire at the end of 2013.
