PLN?s shipping company to transport 7.3 MT of coal in 2012

The shipping company, PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adiguna (PT BAG), the subsidiary of the state-owned electricity company PT PLN said that it would ship coal from Tarahan Lampung to a number of coal-fired power plants in Java island this year.

It said that the shipment would be made under operation cooperation scheme (KSO) with the company?s shipping lanes partners to supply the tug and barge, self propeller barge and vessel.

President Director of PT BAG, Bima Putrajaya said that the company would deliver the coal to a number of PLTUs built under the ?fast tract? 10,000 MW projects in Java starting this year.

The coal-fired power plants are, among others, PLTU Labuan Banten with capacity of 2x300 MW, PLTU Suralaya Baru Banten of 1x625 MW, PLTU Lontar Tangerang of 3x315 MW, PLTU Indramayu, West Java of 3x330 MW, PLTU Rembang, Central Java of 2x315 MW, PLTU Paiton, East Java of 1x660 MW, PLTU Cilacap Central Java with 1x660 MW, PLTU Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java with 3x350 MW dan PLTU Pacitan East Java of 2x315 MW.

The company would also ship coal to PLTU Tanjung Jati B in Jepara, Central Java.

?PT BAG will transport some 7.3 million tonnes of coal to the PLTUs in 2012,? he said.
