State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said that the compressed natural gas (CNG) facility at the Tanjung Grati gas-fired power plant in East Java is scheduled to operate in June of this year.

PLN Head of Gas and Fuel Division, Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com that the facility will have a capacity of 17 mmscd of gas.

?PLN will operate the CNG Grati with a volume of 17 mmscfd in June,? Suryadi said. PLN has been developing several CNG facilities in a bid to help cut cost by allowing its power plants to switch from petroleum fuel to the cheaper gas.
