The Attorney General's West Kalimantan office has found graft indications in the tendering of procurement of machinery on May 20.
The attorney office found that the value of machinery supplied to PLN was only about Rp 2 billion, or only half of the tender value of Rp 4.072 billion. Besides, the quality of the machinery was all below par, below PLN's standards.
An attorney for special crime at the West Kalimantan office, Amin Zebua, said in Pontianak on Monday that the mark-up practices were found after the provincial legislative body's Commission D investigated the tender following electricity crisis in the provincial capital of Pontianak since mid-July.
The crisis was sparked by breakdown in the gas -powered power generation and diesel-power generation in Siantan, Pontianak - each with electricity generating capacity of 38MW.
Amin said his office had questioned a number of PLN officials and also those participating in the project. They include PLN's deputy finance head Gunawan, deputy procurement head Totok Sugiarto, PLN's Kapuas head Made Suardana and Kapuas field officer Ikran and CV Mandiri director M Supardjo.
Amin said that all those officials were questioned as witnesses, but their status could be upgraded into suspects if there were enough graft indications to net them. (*)
