PLN says construction of Balikpapan power plant to start soon

State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said that the construction of the 2x100 MW Teluk Balikpapan coal-fired power plant will start within 1-2 months ahead.
PLN East Kalimantan office spokesman Max Tahapary said last week that the project, which is being developed in cooperation with East Kalimantan provincial administration, is expected to be operated in 2014.
According to an earlier statement by PT Adhi Karya, the EPCC contractor, the value of the contract was approximately US$ 250 million with completion expected in 33 months.
The project is part of the 10,000 MW government?s fast-track program in outside Java. (*)
