State electricity firm PLN is seeking to get additional 30MMCFD of gas from BP-operated Offshore North West Java PSC offshore West Java for its Muara Karang power plant in Jakarta.

Senior official Nasri Sebayang told Petromindo.Com that PLN is currently in talks with BP and state gas distribution firm PGN over the plan. Under the deal, PGN would purchase the gas from ONWJ and then sell it to PLN.

Sebayang hoped the deal could be concluded to allow the power plant to receive additional gas supply early next year.

?Technical and price negotiation are underway. We hope to be able to sign the GSA by year-end,? he said.

PLN currently has contracts in place with BP, under which the Anglo-American firm supplies gas to PLN?s Muara Karang and Tanjung Priok power plants, both are located in North Jakarta. (bernard)
