PLN seeks consultant for rehabilitation of Suralaya plant

State-owned electricity firm PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) unveiled tender to select consultant for the rehabilitation and modernization of units 3 and 4 of the Suralaya coal-fired power plant in West Java.
?PT PLN (Persero) hereby invites qualified independent consultants to submit a prequalification document for consulting services required. Funds have been earmarked for this project by the German bilateral Financial Cooperation, provided through KfW Development Bank,? PLN said in the tender announcement seen Wednesday.
The coal-fired Power Plant Suralaya is located in West Java, Indonesia in a strategic important position. The power plant has an overall capacity of 3,400 MWe in total. The power output of the units 3 and 4 is 400 MWe each. Both units are for 25 years in operation so far.
PLN said that for energy supply and energy security reasons it is required to extend the operating time for at least another 20 years.
?In order to fulfill nationally and internationally recognized environmental and efficiency state-of -the-arts standards as well as to increase the availability and the overall reliability, it is planned to rehabilitate and modernize these two power plant units. The measures shall focus on the turbines, boilers (incl. low-NOx burners), generators and on the environmental facilities (CEMS, ESP, SOx, etc.),? the company said.
The PLN tender announcement said that deadline of submission prequalification document is August 18, 2015.
