State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will call for bids to supply gas to the 3-MW Bawean power plant in East Java which is being converted from a diesel power plant into a gas engine facility.

The future PLTMG Bawean will need 0.6 mmscfd of gas for the power plant, Suryadi Mardjoeki, PLN?s Head of Oil Fuels and Gas Division, said.

?There are four companies which have voiced interest to supply the gas. We'll soon hold a tender for the gas supply,? he told Petromindo.com.

The conversion of PLTD Bawean into PLTMG Bawean is part of PLN?s strategy of phasing out all its diesel power plants, he said.
