PLN seeks LNG supply from Qatar

State-owned electricity firm PT. PLN is in talks with Qatar Gas for the possible import of 8 cargoes of LNG to help meet gas supply of power plants in northern part of Sumatra.
"We have just opened communication with Qatar Gas," Head of Fuel and Gas Division at PLN Chairani Rachmatullah said to Petromindo.com Monday, but did not provide further details.
The government has recently unveiled a new policy allowing for the import of gas specifically dedicated for power plants.
