Gas hungry state electricity company PT PLN said it has sent letter to PT Pertamina E&P (PEP), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, expressing its interest to absorb gas from two PEP gas fields.

PLN Division Head for Gas and Fuel, Suryadi Mardjoeki, told Petromindo.com the company has sent the letter in January and has yet to receive response from PEP.

He said PLN is intersted to buy gas from PEP?s gas fields in Bengkudulis, East Kalimantan and in Sorong, Papua. ?We have learnt that Bengkudulis field could produce 10 mmscfd of gas, while the field in Sorong could produce 6 mmscfd,? Suryadi said.

The Bengkudulis field is jointly developed by PT Pertamina EP and Patina Group, an affiliated company of PT Benakat Petroleum Tbk.
