The negotiations between state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and the developer of Wayang Windu geothermal power plant Unit 2, Star Energy, over the price of the power from the power plant remained tough, the Koran Tempo newspaper reported in its Monday edition.

PLN director of power generation and primary energy Ali Herman said PLN wanted to have a much lower price than the price offered by Star Energy but he declined to mention the offered price.

?For Wayang Windu, we expect (it will be) below 5 U.S. cents (per kilowatt hour),? Ali Herman told the Tempo over the weekend.

Star Energy president director Supramu Santosa said that the negotiations with PLN are still in the preliminary stage.

?The talks just began early this month and we have not entered into the phase of price issue," Supramu said.

Located at Pangalengan in West Java, 2x110 MW Wayang Windu plant was built in 1994 with an investment of $434 million.(*)
